Merino Wool
Just in time for the cold winter days ahead of us. My favorite animal fiber is about to enter my closest with a warming affect that no other cuddly sweater can compete with.
Merino wool is the finest sheep wool with a no itch factor! Which is very important to me because the itch in wool has kept me away from wearing wool products for many years.
Cool Wool There is no better example of the versatility of Merino wool than Cool Wool. Cool Wool garments are manufactured from lightweight Merino wool fabrics making Merino almost seasonless!
In February 2012 Cool Wool was re-launched initially to the trade. In recognition of the advancements in the production of lightweight fabric the original Cool Wool was modified to be more relevant for today’s market needs and demands.
Cool Wool is a sub-brand of the Woolmark and Woolmark Blend programs. Visit www.woolmark.com for more information.

Keeping Cool
Most fibers including wool, cotton and synthetics have the ability to absorb moisture from the air and release it again as humidity levels shift. This is known wicking. It’s how well each fiber performs that determines the skin’s temperature: the higher proportion of a textile’s body weight that it can absorb in water, the better.
Man made synthetics perform poorly next to their natural counterparts. Polyester can only absorb just 1% of its weight, while nylon is at at 7%.
Natural fibers are much better with Cotton at 24%. Animal or protein fibers such as silk and wool are the best performers with wool in first place!
The complex molecular structure of wool fiber has a unique unique moisture characteristic that permits the absorption of excess water as humidity increases, releasing it as humidity drops keeping you dry!

Wool has been found to be therapeutic to the skin, providing a natural treatment for eczema that reduces the need for traditional medicines.

MACHINE WASHABLE
Merino wool remains one of the most resilient fabrics around. With most garments now pre-shrunk, Merino wool sleepwear can be thrown straight into the washing machine on a standard cycle without fear of shrinking or losing its shape!
